Saltburn With New Group | Other
I love to challenge myself and the weather conditions on the day were really fighting back. I remember my fingers and toes were freezing.
Some of the photos from this series I was quite pleased with. Using monochrome developed the mood and I liked the detail picked out in the seas waves.

Saltburn With New Group | Simple
Sometimes I find simple ideas work the best. Often I enjoy picking out little details in things that a non-photographic eye may not spot straight away.
My favourite image from the bunch is the white fence with a blurred seascape in the background. I love the mood it creates and describes the day well.

Saltburn With New Group | Cliff Lift
So many photographers have been there done that with photographing the cliff lift. I wanted to create something with an original twist. I developed this by changing the angle of the shot and using different elements such as the railings to frame the shot.
In addition I noticed the clouds were quite dark in the sky. I focused on the point on the top of the cliff lift and the background of moody clouds worked well with this.

Saltburn With New Group | Saltburn Pier
There were only a few people braving the weather on the pier. I noticed there seemed to be a couple walking along and thought this would be interesting to develop.
I used the white fence at the top of the cliff lift to frame the pier and this added an unusual and abstract dimension to what would have been otherwise quite a common image.

Saltburn With New Group | Red Hair In Wind
While we were stood near the cliff lift with the wind and cold I was looking for a creative way to describe this in a photograph.
One of the other women had red hair and her pony tail was being swept away with the wind. I asked her permission to photograph her hair and developed the idea over a series of images.

Saltburn With New Group | Cameras
This particular series of photos illustrates the story of what we were doing. I remember clearly that we went in the early evening and it was extremely cold hence the woolly gloves and thick coats. The photos make me smile because they remind me of this but we were very keen to get some good photos despite the windy and cold weather.
Saltburn With New Group | Benches
I’m a little late in posting this series of photographs taken in Saltburn March last year. My neighbour had introduced me to a new group of people interested in photography and I had been invited along to a photography session with them.
The idea behind the session was to produce some digital photographs for their beginner’s photography course. I was not part of the course but came along with my camera to take photos and meet people with similar a common interest.
The bench shots were my favourite from the outing and received the most interest on my Facebook and Flickr page. The series seems to work particularly well in monochrome creating an atmospheric and classic style.
