Saltburn & Kirkleathem Day Out – Dog

These dog photos were taken towards the end of the day when we were walking back and actually the ones I was most pleased with from the trip.

The stance of the dog is interesting and I liked the way the owner is hidden behind a street lamp. Another image I took included a old man and his dog. I choose to take it from the bottom of some steps; this created an unusual framing device and interesting angle.

Shetland Sheep Dogs & Kleinspitz – Pet Shoot

A family friend had asked me to take some pictures of her wonderful dogs. The Shetland sheep dogs and kleinspitz are very photogenic and are kept in tip top condition. They are very well behaved and easy to shoot. The newest member of the family, a light coloured Kleinspitz is gorgeous and has such a lovely face.

Bentley the Bulldog

Since 2010 when I last photographed Bentley I have been working on pet portraiture and developing it as a idea for a business.

Bentley is one of my favourite subjects to photograph because he has such as charismatic face.

I decided to have another shoot with Bentley a couple of weeks ago. He was lots of fun to work with, and a little calmer than he was back in 2010.

I’m looking for new pets to photograph, if you would like some new photographs of your dog, cat, horse etc please contact me for more details.

Saltburn – Dogs on the Beach

From the day, this subject matter was most fun and appealing to work with. There was certainly a lot of potential for dog pictures on the day, there were many owners with dogs on the beach and seafront.

I was most pleased with the work I produced with King Charles Spaniels for the reason that the ideas behind the shots were not like anything I had created before.

While in Saltburn I approached a couple of dog owners with my business card, hoping for some interest in my pet portraiture work. If you would like a pet portrait please feel to drop me an email at helen@helencapstick.com.

Newcastle – The Dog with Character

This is my last blog from the August Newcastle trip. I thought I would end of a high. While walking through the market in Newcastle, one of my photography friends (also called Helen!) noticed a beautiful dog.

We took a few pictures of it while it seemed to be waiting for its owner to return. I loved the expression in the dogs face as he looked back and forth waiting.

Since my first portfolio meeting with profile gallery, we discussed developing the pet portraiture project and I have been coming up with lots of new ideas.

Lovely Alfie

I thought I would blog my latest visit to my neighbour’s garden. My neighbour is called Vera and I’ve photographed her dogs, Mikey and Crystal before and really enjoyed it.

I went back round on another occasion to take some of Alfie the dog. He’s really lovely but just a little bit shy.

I got some great ‘up close’ shots of him coming right up close to the camera. From the visit, my fav image that I came out with is one of Alfie’s eye. It shows the dogs character quite nicely!

Profile Gallery: The Puppy Visit

During my placement at profile gallery, a friend of the gallery came in with his new puppy. It was so cute and could not resist taking a few snaps of her.

These images tie in quite nicely with my pet and owner portrait idea that I’ve begun developing since my first portfolio meeting with Mark at Profile.

Becky who also works at profile was besotted with the puppy; I got some great shots of her with the puppy also.
