Texture Collage Work – August

I felt because I hadn’t done much painting recently I would do some collage textural work in my sketchbook. I used acrylic paint, tissue paper, plastic bags and any found objects/materials I could find.

I ended up completing about eight pages of collage work. I then used my small compact digital camera to take pictures of sections in the collage I liked the best.

I did some slight editing on Photoshop, for example, creating a more noticeable contrast and generally brightening the image up to make it look more vivid.

Here is a selection of my work from the day...

Pink Paparazzi – Inspired art project

One of my favourite forms of medium, when creating art work is collage.  I enjoy cutting snip-it’s from different magazines and editing, making them my own cool, bright collage images.

This project theme consisted of beauty and celebrity magazines; I found a particularly inspiring image of Cheryl Cole, being bombarded by paparazzi. I decided to incorporate ideas from this article into my art work.

I put my own signature style onto the images, for example, I used bright day-glow colours and one of my favourite Photoshop functions, blending modes. I use ‘multiply’ quite often because it allows you to blend a number of images together through the use of layers.

As always my images are available on flickr and my professional facebook page, please write to me, if you have a question or comment ; )

More texture and colour – Most recent art work

These images I created using found materials to create mixed media images. These are my most recent. Since finishing university I have been producing more textural images.

I enjoy mixed media, because there’s so much freedom with the kind of image that could be created. I also like it when I discover new artist techniques, and using a sketchbook allows me to be more experimental. Later I edit the images of Photoshop – which is fun too!

These particular images are bright, there seems to be a yellow and orange theme. I also like mixing bright colours with black to create a darker feel to the final image.

Evil Chicken

This is a drawing that I have been working on and completed just recently. Since going to the arts society, based near where I live, I have become more interested in painting and drawing by hand.

I’ve been going to this local art group for nearly a term now. I really enjoy going, learning new skills and talking to the lots of artists there.

This drawing I called Evil chicken, simply because of the charismatic expression on the chickens face. We keep our chickens in the back garden, we have just two now and they are called Julie and Rita. Julie is the one I drew!

This is the photograph I drew from. The particular photograph one a place in the NHS Be a friend competition calendar.

New Textural Work

I’ve had a passion for textural art work since first trying it on my university course. For the textural work, I used old materials like coloured plastic bags, scrap paper and spray paints. It’s a very messy process, but I thoroughly enjoy it.

These are my most recent textural pieces. I think texture art (or some just call it collage) is one of my strengths as an artist. For this reason, I plan to do some more in the future!

I also have included some of the motion blur prints which have been created by sweeping across the art with a digital camera.
