My photographic style is generally very abstract, I find working with macro interesting, and focusing on less obvious ideas. Through my abstract series from this York trip, I did quite a lot of work with long exposure achieving a motion blur.
These abstract shots have elements relating to street photography, but felt they were too minimal to put in that blog post. Blurring can be really fun and a great way to capture people you don’t know.
It was quite a miserable day, weather wise, but I picked up on the colours from the York festival (and also cheated and brightened up images in Photoshop!). I also included monochrome shots, which work well in contrast to the bright coloured photographs.
I wanted to develop some new ideas for my photography, and in York produced some new street photographic work. After the trip to York, my love for street photography had really developed.
I find candid street shots really fun, and there were some interesting focus points in the centre of town. Unfortunately, there are many restrictions when using street work online. I left out some of the shots of young people to put online for obvious reasons.
Luckily I created a range of shots, some of which were fine to use online. There is a mixture of people, architecture and some more abstract. On the day we went it was the York festival and balloons could be found everywhere so I included is a series of pink balloon shots.
I organised a day trip to York with a few of my photography friends at the end of January. I had not been to York for quite a long time and was nice to wander around the city, taking pictures, looking in shops and eating out.
I named this set camera love, it shows people having fun with cameras and enjoying photography. A few of us in the group, decided to develop some portraits from the day. I had a lot of fun photographing friends who came along on the trip.
Many of the portraits were candid, and several I took, included shots of my friends taking pictures themselves. I think this added a fun element to my work, and afterwards some used them for their Facebook profile pictures.
