Vintage Fair: Interior Design

There were a couple of stalls selling homeware and one particular stall selling vintage furniture. This stall was one of my favourites and there was a wide selection of furniture pieces which were really pretty.

I started experimenting as little with some of the mirrors they had for sale, capturing reflections of on lookers and other pieces in the stall. I also captured some photos of china.

Vintage Fair: Stalls

During the time working for Profile gallery over the summer, Becky told me she was organising a vintage fair. After finding out a bit more about it I asked Becky whether I could do some photography for the event and she agreed.

I was really impressed with the turnout on the day; there were lots of stalls and lots of interesting things to buy. I enjoyed being a part of the event. I got talking to lots of new people and handed out a couple of business cards.

As part of my series of blogs for this event, I thought I would start with the stalls. These photographs are more documentary based and give a taste of what was on sale.

Studio Work with Kirsty – Part 2

I’ve picked out the best photographs from the shoot with Kirsty and blogged them separately. I think the mono images looked particularly eye-catching and work better with the outfits the model wore on the day. I was most pleased with the two portrait format shots as I believe the lighting gave the shots a really unusual look.

Studio Work with Kirsty

I decided I wanted to develop further my passion for studio and fashion photography after being inspired by that kind of theme with past placements and projects.

A group of my photographer friends and I booked some time at a Discovery Photography studio in Redcar. We worked with a model named Kirsty who also works at Discovery.

We did a lot of experimentation with lighting and original poses. I had prepared a set of mood boards earlier and used these to communicate to Kirsty, the kind of poses I was after. The images for the mood board are all sourced from Flickr.

Kirsty also had her own ideas and came up with interesting poses too. I enjoyed the day; Kirsty was easy to work with and learned a lot about lighting, and working with a model.

More Durham

Here are the last of my pictures from the Durham day out. These are ones that did not relate to the cathedral, that I took in town and more!

My friend Wade likes visiting charity shops.  They have some fantastic charity shops in Durham which we went in while we were there.

They had lots of old books, records and lots of other interesting things to buy. I noticed in the record section, some of the covers were worn and had a really nice texture to them; I decided to capture it in a photograph.

September Durham Visit

This month I visited had a lovely day out in Durham with a couple of my friends. We strolled round the centre, the shopping centre and up to the cathedral.

I didn’t plan to take lots of photography but I did take my camera and got a couple of nice shots of the cathedral.

Unfortunately photography inside the cathedral is banned as many might know who have been. I took some other shots of the cathedral where photography was permitted.

My favourite images from the bunch included the ones of the old windows in courtyard bit of the cathedral.

I seemed to favour mono on this day; lots of my shots looked much more dramatic in black and white!
