On Sunday I and a friend went to Saltburn beach taking pictures. I enjoyed taking pictures, we went on the beach. I took pictures of lots of different things, people, animals, and the landscape. I was basically experimenting with different shots. There was quite a bit of fog and luckily the tide was on so we went on the pier and got some pictures of the sea from the end of the pier.
I’ve picked out the best shots to put on my blog, theres a couple of ones I am really pleased with. I most enjoyed taking pictures of people, dogs and the pier! Saltburn is well known for its pier and lift but I’ve only really been a couple of times to Saltburn, horse riding and stuff but never to take pictures. I think there was a fair bit of inspiration in Saltburn so I might go again!
I’ve been making loads of cards recently, I guess I’ve just been in the right mood, I’m like some kind of card making machine! It’s nice to be making cards that are NOT Christmas cards!!
I’ve been experimenting with punches, peel offs and stamps. Someone gave me some stencils also and I’ve been using them up; mostly heart and oval stencils, I never knew they could be so useful!
I also bought some scrapbooking patterned paper which I scanned in and printed out for the use of my cards. The effect of patterned paper seemed to work really well. I also did some collage too!
I aim to make some photography cards soon because I’m hoping to sell them on to galleries and it’s a perfect way to advertise my artwork!
Here are the cards I’ve been making in the last week or so......
One of the ladies at the Wednesday craft class was making a double twisted easel card; I was inspired to find out how they were created so she helped me make my own. During the class I created a basic template for the double twisted easel card. When I got home I started designing from the basic template.
I came up with three designs. One of them I modified by making the easels face outwards. This was easily achieved through scoring the creases to face inwards on the initial template.
I think through learning this technique I have gained more confidence and made a leap forward with the cards I’ve created. Please let me know if you like them!
My craft evening class has started up again after the Christmas period. The first session of creative crafts, we did iris folding and boxes. I spent all of the session learning about iris folding. I really enjoyed learning how to do this technique, and the finished effect I was very pleased with!
I choose to do a teddy bear. My younger cousin had not been too well, so I thought I would make her a get well card. However I never sent it off because she felt better and went back to school. I will keep the card for another occasion!
Anyway this is the design I came up with, I hope you like it!
These are some more cards I made recently, which I made at the Wednesday craft class. I am enjoying getting back into cards. I made loads of Christmas cards last year then went on a short break, I’m now back making cards again!
I recently got an order for 16 birthday cards and am blogging it to show you the results. I think I’ve come on with my designs; I’ve been doing cards for a long time now and have recently started getting more interest from many people who want to buy them. These cards are for Dave and my Aunty Tina bought 10 just before Christmas.
I am now considering selling my cards more professionally, maybe on eBay, PayPal or local art/craft shops and events. Keep tuned!
